This link was from the Bbc website and gives you a chance to see if your email address, and possibly passwords have been compromised. The news comes after they've found a giant spambot.

But if i type my email address in, is there a danger of them adding me to their list ?

This is very old news and there have been other threads on this ..

There is no danger of your passwords being harvested from this site as you are not going to provide them with your passwords.
The site simply checks your email address against the massive database of stolen credentials and tells you if you feature on there

I have signed up and have never had any spam from that site. I know because I use a unique email address for every site I sign up with.

One of the free hosting sites 0000host or something? and Myspace have lost my data. But as above i have a ton of email addresses and keep all personal and banking totally separate.

Every password i create is totally unique.

.... and the rest, think yahoo got compromised at least twice, Adobe a few times, Sony, talk talk, possibly ebay too as there was a bulk required to change p/w, and the list goes on

The "pwned" site also allows you to check passwords so I put in a few old passwords and couple came up as being on the bot list. Subsequently I recalled that one was still in use on a on-line shopping site that I don't use much.
    Quickly changed it!
