How long can I wait?
I'm on the excellent Collective Fix and checking options. The Co-op Lite fix through to May 2019 (two winters) looks a reasonable one – if there's no better deal forthcoming through MSE. The current BG offerings are pathetic, so my thought is that MSE would be very lucky to blag anything spectacular off them. But is there any chance of the Co-op's deal being withdrawn and so I miss out?

The Co-op deal could have gone between you seeing it and posting here.
Company's remove the deals when they want to and there is no set time/date. The follow up deal maybe better or worse, but nobody knows.
If you are happy to go for it then do. If in doubt, then how would you feel if the deal goes away and the next best deal is less to your advantage. If really in doubt still, then sleep on it but be aware that it may go.
But don't blame my advice either way0 -
For ME the ----
The Green Network Energy -
GNE MSM Exclusive 2 Winter Fix 18mth DD £31per fuel exit fee £25 cashback (after 3mths)
looks a good deal.
My BG Collective fix ends 3 October and as it takes 20 days or so to switch I will take a punt and wait a couple of weeks before taking the plunge. By which time MSE's Energy Club may have a deal in place although it will only take in one Winter. It's a moving feast so the GNE deal may have gone by then and who knows what President Trump will have done re Nth Korea and I may have no worries re my energy needs :-).0 -

I will repeat a post that I made yesterday. Under the terms of its Supply Licence, suppliers have 35 days to transfer a supply (14 days 'cooling off' plus 21 days). Some suppliers are signed up to a voluntary 17 day switching period: many of the smaller ones are not. The 17 days includes the 14 days 'cooling off' period.
Under the terms of the Supply Licence, if your present supplier is notified via industry procedures that a transfer has been initiated within the period of contract END DATE plus 20 days (not including the last day of your present contract) then it must keep you on your existing fixed tariff prices until the transfer goes through provided that this is within a reasonable (not defined) period of time.
One might argue that if you initiated a switch to one of the 17 day switching energy companies on say, day 2 after contract end, then it would not be unreasonable if the transfer didn't go through until Day 37. FWiW, I had one delayed switch that took three months in the end to go through; I remained on my present fixed tariff until the transfer was completed.0 -
Thanks, Hengus. I'd forgotten about the cooling-off period, during which time MSE might have come up with a new deal. The current prices prove what a good deal the Collective Fix was.0

I received a letter from them on 30th Aug (dated 23rd Aug) telling me my best Co-oP option is "My Coop Lite Online Sept18".
I checked the Coop energy site yesterday(31st Aug) to find the tariff does not exist and the nearest one is "My Coop Lite Online May19".
I messaged Coop energy and their reply today states that the Sept18 tariff has been withdrawn and replaced with the May19 tariff.
The projection from my usage is £875.67
using the same figures I get a projection of £813 from SSE and £819 from Npower. and £825 from EDF.0 -
@dggar
Thank you for proving my point about timescales for offers.
I would recommend anyone to do a full market comparison and not just blindly accept their current suppliers best offer. However a lot of people don't like switching so just go with the current provider and the majority of them stay on the expensive standard variable tariff too.
And if you are feeling daring, look at separate gas and electricity deals as sometimes they can be cheaper than a dual fuel deal.0
