Received this letter after sending Prove It to Lowell

  • I'm happy to post any updates I receive on here that they send me. I just feel like I'm wandering at the moment, like I'm stuck in limbo cos I have no idea what to do or how to approach them. If this debt is proven to be mine, ideally I would like to offer them £1200 as an F & F, how receptive do you think they would be?

Contact them, they're not scary at all and have no powers other than to get a CCJ if you don't play ball.

Get a full breakdown of costs. If the termination fee is wrong, there's no point in paying a F&F until the actual balance owed is correct. Your account is on hold for now anyway, but if you can say that your contract was £60pm, the maximum contract termination charge would be £1440 if you cancelled without paying a single monthly payment.

I was going to say send the provit letter, then thought better of it.

If its just the balance you dispute, a simple letter to that effect will suffice.

Be sure to ask for a breakdown of how the termination fee was calculated, its not unheard of for mistakes to happen.

Lowell are actually one of the more compliant debt purchase companies out there.

The letter he got WAS the response to a prove It letter, so this is dealing with the aftermath of that :)

  • According to the letter they sent me, they have requested statements from Orange, now EE I suppose, and I guess I'm waiting for them to send them to me. I'm happy to post them when they come. I just don't want them levying me with loads of charges and threatening me when I actually have a desire to get rid of it.
