Ryanair

Hi

I am sure this has happened to others and probably been discussed many a time before but I just want to check

I booked a return flight in Feb 2017 costing £305 but today same flight is £226. I queried this with Ryainar and they said hard luck the prices are now being discounted. Surely that is unethical to discount prices knowing full well people have paid full price?

I tried to claim a refund of the difference but was told to politely get lost. Do I have a right to the price difference?

I guess this is a learning curve for me

Can you not cancel your booking and make another one at the new price?
By the way if the price had gone up would you offer to pay them the difference:rotfl:

  • I ask about Ryanair as Easyjet have in past refunded difference in such circumstance

I think I am annoyed as Ryanair encourage you to book early to get best price

Ganga - I have never thought of it in reverse and I guess I would not pay if price went up

As I said this is a learning curve for me

No you don't have a claim for a refund of the difference in price, why would you?

Top Tip: Never Ever check prices after you have booked.

What is any sale but a reduced price for goods which some people have already paid full price for.

Would you expect M`&S to refund the difference of the full price you paid for a dress and the price in a sale?

Ryanair are having a sale of seats that have not been sold already.

You mean like every single business in the world does all the time? I don't know where you saw Ryanair encourage people to book early for the best price. I don't see anything like that in their website.

Easyjet had a published "Price Promise" where an increase in fare could result in a refund of the difference in the form of a voucher valid for 6 months. They scrapped this in February this year and I am unaware of any other airlines that offer this

£305 is less than their actual costs so no need to complain.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

There's nothing unethical about it, and no, of course you don't. Which other airlines you've flown with refund the price difference (EZY did, but no longer)?

I've never seen anything about Ryanair encouraging you to book early to get the best prices either. Often their prices are best about 2 months prior.

Flight prices with all airlines fluctuate, sometimes more than once day. How many times did you check the prices and found they'd increased before you found that this time they'd dropped?

You book at a price you're happy to pay, and then don't go back and check the price again, unless you're prepared for the possibility of seeing it cheaper.

This question gets asked on here at least once a month and the answer is the same. Prices of flights and holidays go up and down constantly. If you buy at a low price you dont have to pay extra when price goes up and if you buy at higher price you dont get money back if it goes down.
Essentially so long as you are satisfied with the price at the time you pay it then you have a good deal. And the golden rule is never go back to check the price after you've paid.
