Ikea shoe cabinet and fixing to a wall

Hi,

I have been searching online to find something about what if I dont want to attached my Hemnes shoe cabinet (2 compartments) to the wall but cant find anything.

I havent built it yet hence the question now, will it stand up on its own if i dont attach it to the wall? Are the wall mounts a safety feature or neccessary for the use of the cabinet?

Any help much appreciated.

As I recall, for the Hemnes, you do need to fix it to the wall otherwise every time you pull one of the drawers open, the whole thing will pull forward.

Step 20 shows that you'll need your own screws and plugs to fit to the wall.

All furniture should be fixed to the wall, there is a tipping hazard on everything Ikea sells (chest of drawers, wardrobes etc)
