LG Direct Drive Washing Machine First Water Fill

Does anyone have an LG Direct Drive Washing machine?
Our old one used to fill with water, then begin. The LG however sort of pulses the water instead of a long open tap fill.

Is this usual with LG washing machines?

does the new one not measure the load of the washing and add the correct amount of water which will take a little longer to start?

It's usual with most washing machines nowadays. Now they're controlled by electronic wizardry instead of a mechanical timer they can do all sorts of strange things.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Yes. Ours does it as well.
I don't understand what it is doing, but the results are excellent.
  • Our AEG does that too. I assume it's to fill the water to a constant level as, depending on the load, the items being washed will absorb water at various rates. The machine therefore adds some water and then waits a bit for the payload to absorb some of the water before adding more until the required level is reached.

    Okay - thanks.

My LG spins to decide the time, then pulses the water, spins a little more, then lets in a whole load.

I have a LG DD. Great machine but I was also confused when it first took water in too. If it causes any banging in your pipes google 'water hammer arrestor' and that should sort you out for about £20.

    Thanks!
I assumed it was because our house is old. The old washing machine didn't bang the pipes.

Just to bring this to conclusion:

Fitted a water hammer arrestor, which has reduced the sound significantly. £21 odd from Screwfix.

    Thanks all!
