Pressed send too quickly there.
The new pair started having the same issue so again I phoned GHD and again they replaced them. A few months down the line the same thing is now happening. I've been a GHD owner now for 10+ years and have never had this issue until I changed them over for the most recent pair. Googling online this seems to be a lot more common than previously. Would it be unreasonable for me to ask for a full refund?

Worth a try, they can only say no. Maybe you have just been unlucky, I've had my pair of GHDs for 13 years. I don't think they get quite as hot but still curl and straighten my hair. If you do get a refund, cloud 9 (I think this is what they're called) are supposed to be good. The company was founded by the person who founded GHD before they sold them.0

Did you buy them direct from GHD? Any refund would need to come from the retailer, not the manufacturer. It would also be based on you having 20 months use of them, so unlikely to be the full amount.0

I did buy directly from GHD. I will give it a bash, see what they say.0
