Holiday Genie

Options
Hi, I was wondering if anybody had any experience of using holiday genie to book a trip to a Orlando?
We are looking to go next year and prices are very competitive compared to Thomsons/virgin etc
I haven't heard of this particular firm before but they seem ok when I've spoken to them. The holiday I priced with them was also on the virgin website for almost £300 more per person, however is it all too good to be true?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Have to used the "search" function on this forum? Lots of mentions of the company. I haven't read any of them but if you do they might give you an idea of the company's reputation. Even just Google might give you some valuable insight, maybe Tripadvisor etc?

I have not used them myself but believe that they are one of the larger independent type operators to Florida.

They were sold a few years back and now are part of the larger Travel Up Group who have a U.K. based call centre.

They do seem to have very good pricing and from that probably have consolidators fares from VS/BA and alike. These can be cheaper than airline published fares at times but come with restrictions and can be inflexible and very costly if you later wish to change dates or names. Just be sure of what you book, e.g. check everyone's passport for their name and match this to the ticket. May seem obvious but you would be surprised how many people book tickets under someone's nick name or shorten name then complain on forums that they later had a problem.

Many will always tell you to book direct with the airline as no one can sell cheaper than the airline themselves, but as you have found this is not always the case. There are certainly some very shonky airline ticket sellers on the web these days but I wouldn't place TravelUp/Holiday Genie in that camp.

You might also wish to look at Ocean Holidays, or if just for flights then Netflights.
  • Thanks for the comments. I have managed to look at some reviews and in general they seem ok. If the holiday is still available I think I will book it-thanks again
