New washing machine problems

Hi,

We replaced our old washing machine with a brand new one. Both are bosch however to amount of foam this thing produces is causing real issues.

This seems to be a common problem with solutions ranging from different types of washing powder/softener/amounts.

Anyone got any solutions we could try please?

Different combinations work for different people so there's no definite answer but it's not difficult to work it out for yourself. I'd start with less of your current detergent, maybe half what you're using now and adjust up or down until you get a good level of suds, then check that you're satisfied with the cleaning. If you're not, try a different detergent. You just have to try different things until you find what works for you.

Or more as the detergent contains a suds suppressant. Whichever works for you.

Yes, I recently purchased a new washing machine, and have found I need to use less suds as my new machine turns so much more and has different water jet spray settings incorporated etc.

Are you using the recommended amount of detergent? If so, then don't.

Modern machines use less water. If you use the amount of detergent recommended on the box, you just end up with a machine full of froth. I generally use about 2/3 of the recommended amount.

I prefer powder or liquid detergent. The gel capsule things often don't dissolve properly, leaving the clothes covered in blue snot.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • We use the almat gel stuff from aldi and only the correct does stated.

Odd things is it now seem to happen more on small loads ( these cant go in with the main wash via the drawer ( we put the gel direct into the machine as stated ) or with towels on the drain cycle.

    Starting to hate this machine!

    Thanks for replies btw :-)

If you're doing smaller loads, are you reducing the dose correctly? If you are, it may just be that you're seeing more of the suds as there aren't as many items in there to hide them, or you just need to use a bit less detergent (not a bad thing!).

If it's happening with absorbent stuff like towels in the rinse/drain part of the cycle, that makes me think you have an excess of detergent in your towels, probably left over from previous washes. If your new machine is better at washing them out than your old machine, you'll be seeing the suds come out now (which would mean you should dislike your old machine and thank your new one for getting rid of the crusty old crud from your laundry!). You can test that idea by putting your towels through a long 60 degree hot wash without detergent and watching for detergent suds - if you see proper suds (not just a few agitation bubbles), you know there's old detergent in there. Run a few hot washes without detergent and plenty of rinsing to remove it and start afresh.
