Hi,
I have applied to study a postgraduate diploma in adult nursing in London. I was looking for some advice from anyone who has done this postgraduate course or similar one with how they coped financially. the tuition fees will be covered by the nhs bursary & there is a maintenance grant available, (I need to find out more info about this). I am concerned about living costs and whether i'll be able to cope financially over the 2 yrs of the course with rent etc.
I am 32 and nursing is a career is something I have considered for a long time, I am currently doing an admin job in the nhs where I am not v happy, I feel I need more of a purpose to life, more fulfillment and job satisfaction, life is short after all.
Anyone have any advice, done anything similar? what was your experience on a course like this? Thanks

Maintenance grant depends on your household income and reduces the loan you can take out.0

Is the bursary that you mention one offered by the university or some other body other than the NHS? According to this page eligibility for bursaries on courses starting after 1 August 2017 is limited to:
You must be accepted for a place on a full or part-time NHS-funded course which will lead to you registering as a:- doctor or dentist (you can apply for an NHS bursary from the 5th year on the 5 or 6 year undergraduate course or from your 2nd year on the 4 year accelerated graduate course)
- dental hygienist or dental therapist

Does your course qualify for funding? Not all courses will.0 -
Yes the university has confirmed that for this postgraduate course in nursing, will be eligible for NHS tuition fee bursary to cover the full costs of tuition costs.0

Do you have a spare room? Could take in a fellow student to make some extra money while studying. Lots of nursing students will do bank shifts to bring money in. How they have the time and energy I don't know!0
