Holes in walls from hanging pictures

Hi,
Just looking for an idea of general consensus about the best thing to do.
We're moving out in a few weeks. When removing pictures that have been hung on the wall, do we leave the nails in the wall, or remove them, thus leaving holes? We could fill in the holes with filler, but don't have the correct paint left to cover them over. We don't have a ridiculous number of pictures!
Thanks in advance!

I would leave the nails where conceivably someone might use it to hang a picture or mirror (say on a chimney breast) but would use filler on the remaining onesGather ye rosebuds while ye may0

Is this a rental property or a property that you are selling?0

A property I'm selling.
Thanks Jimbob, that makes sense.0 -
Ditto I would leave the nails then the next owner can use them or removed them and fill them as they choose. More than likely they will repaint anyway so this wont be much of a hassle!Swagbuckling since Aug 2016 - Earnings so far.. £55.0

Always check with your solicitor, thats what they are getting a fat fee for.
Agree with the others, leave the nails in which they can use again if they want. Or if any nails do come out, use polyfilla.0 -
I agree with the others to leave them in, let the new owners decide if they want to use them or not.0

Leave them in. I found such hooks useful when I moved in to my current house. Some of my walls are very hard so putting up new hooks is a pain and needs a drill.0
-
Thanks all, will leave them in then.0

I removed all our picture hooks, filled holes, smoothed and painted since it is highly unlikely that the new owner was ever going to have the same number of paintings and want to hang them in the same place. I got a tested pot to touch up the paint to match the colour. It took little effort.0

In the first house we bought, the living room was covered with picture hanging hooks everywhere the day we moved in... but... we never battered an eyelid. It really doesn't matter.0
