am looking at asus Zenbooks (13.3") and seen a few refurbished ones on eBay, one is listing 2 x drives (500Gb and 128Gb SSD)
I know the SSD is the better of the 2, but would a small laptop/notebook have 2 drives in it?
Or am i safer buying new from the likes of PC World or Laptopsdirect?

Some laptops do have 2 drives and a DVD drive too. Most do not, but some people like me remove the dvd and put a hard drive caddy so that two drives are supported.
With M2 SSD, you can get 2.5 bays that holds 2X m2 ssd, so you could get close to 4x1T of storage on a laptop.
These M2 SSD drive is used in the Zenbook, and a teardown of one is here and shows the difference between sata drives
