Fence panels faded in sunlight, what options?

Options
WE have 8 Madrid fence panels down the side of the garden, this style:

They've faded loads in the 2 years they've been up, to the point of almost going grey. Whatever we do to them will need doing both sides, as if we paint/stain them it will run through the gaps onto the neighbours side. Is there a quicker/easy way to bring them back to life??

Open to suggestions... :(

  • Completely normal for them to fade to a silvery colour without regular treatment and protection from UV light.

Most people are happy for them to silver off and if they were pressure treated they should need no further treatment. Any treatment you add would be mostly cosmetic.

There's no easy fix. You'll need to stain or paint each panel both sides. A sprayer might make the job easier.

That's what happens to any fence panel. We brush coated ours with Cuprinol Muted Clay - 2 coats on both sides, which is a really lovely colour and has lasted very well. We'll be moving house and will use this same colour again in the future.

There are spray systems available but I haven't heard particularly good things about them. Be careful what's on the other side of the fence if you are spraying as it can go through any knots.
