Arghhh! Split milk

I've just opened a 2L bottle of milk (dated 31st August), 26th today and it's split....as in you can see dots in the milk, it smells OK but looks horrid in hot drinks etc.
Any suggestions how best to use it up please?

I would take it back to the shop as you should get a refund or replacement.0

I agree; I'd say it hasn't been stored correctly at the shop, and they should replace it or refund your money. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Unfortunately the aforementioned store is a 20 mile round trip away and when I opened the milk this morning I had JUST come in from shopping. WHY couldn't I have needed to open it before I went? (Murphy's law)
I did try ringing customer services but needless to say they were too busy to answer, it being BH weekend.
I think I will just have to suck it up on this occasion as it isn't worth the fuel to return the bottle

I often have the same problem and like you I find it's not worth the petrol to return it, I think milk is often left outside shops on trolleys for longer than it should be and so that's why it happens as it gets warm so it starts turning. It will be fine to cook with, I use it all the time if it's not really tummy turning smelly!
I pour it through a sieve to get rid of any lumpy bits then make white sauce with it with a view to split into portions that will suit for future meals and then freeze.I then thaw the sauce out and add either cheese/parsley/onions etc depending on what we're having for dinner.
I've made custard with it before as well and nobody ever knew or complained or got ill0 -

Thank you, white sauce is the way to go then!
What a coincidence that we both live in cloud cuckoo land

It cost 99p actually and it's the principal. If I buy milk I expect it to remain good at least until it's use by date. My fridge is the right temperature and milk is stored on a shelf, not in the door where the temp fluctuates.
Anyway, I just checked my receipt and they weren't 10% cheaper so I "have my money back". Princely sum of £1.57
