lastminute.com refund gone missing

Hi Forum,

I had some flights booked with lastminute.com for this coming December - the airline changed the dates, so agreed to give me a refund.

Lastminute.com customer service department say they 'processed' the refund by bank transfer weeks ago, and I need to check with my bank. I checked the account details, and lastminute have the right ones.
I contacted my bank and they say they know nothing about the refund, and I need to talk to lastminute.

What should I do?
Can I do a chargeback on my credit card to get the money back?
Can I get some sort of proof from lastminute that they have done the transfer?

Any advice?

Yes, start the S75 claim and they will need to prove they sent the money to the right account or they will lose.

Was it a family booking or were there friends involved? If there were friends involved then you can't claim for their tickets but if your own ticket was over £100 then the result will still be the same, they will still need to prove they sent the refund.

If S75 isn't available then do the chargeback but always use S75 first in you can.

    Following on from Bris' post...

but a chargeback will cover friends tickets - if indeed there were any.

My suggestion would be to seek a chargeback from your card issuer - reason = promised refund not received.

I thought refunds had to go back to the original payment source? i.e back to the original credit card.

If original transaction was by CC, the refund should have gone back to your CC, not back as a bank transfer.

Yes, that should happen "unless the consumer expressly agrees otherwise".
