Best treatment for fleas/ticks

We always used Frontline on our previous dogs, but I was never happy about applying these really strong insecticides.
When we got our puppy I decided to try natural treatments, but the thing is he simply hates the smell and goes mad running around and rolling on the carpet trying to rub it off, so it is a real battle to use it.
I just wondered if there are any better alternatives that actually work to the standard Frontline, Advantage, Advocate, etc.

Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Just to say that on another forum somebody has recommended a product called Billy No Mates, so will give that a try.

My dog was getting ticks every week, tried all sort of different spot on treatment, and Billy no mates, also was told to try garlic tablets, and apple cider vinegar, none of them worked at all.
The last 3 months my dog has been on the tablet Bravecto and he has not had a single tick since.0 -

I've used it. Totally useless product. My dog got a bad flea attack in France on holiday & we had to go to the vet to get her sorted. Wouldn't recommend it.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80

Anything for cats ?
Fleas just love my 4 year old male - a very thick coat gives them plenty of room to hide?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

They have industrial strength fleas in France and the usual supermarket treatments are useless. We go to the vet on arrival to treat them before they make contact. Always works.
After some useless tablets from Asda we've just tried some spot on treatment on our two littl'uns (recommended by store worker) so we'll see how that goes.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -

I use Bravecto as well. It's not the cheapest but it's effective and my dog eats it voluntarily. It's also a LOT faster than Frontline at killing ticks (12 hrs vs 48hrs) and fleas (2hrs vs 24hrs). Would recommend to anyone.A witty saying proves nothing0
