We have more or less furnished our house dead cheap from a furniture auction (at the local cattlemarket once a month!( e,g, lovely pine table £6 - computer desk and chair £2 - and a 3piece suite - £30) we did buy a new bed tho!0

If you buy a new mattress you could get away with a SH pine/metal frame and give it a good clean.
Up until now we've done new beds for tenants but our tenants tend to want to squeeze their own beds in, as they are the right beds etc for them. New tenant is bringing her own furniture.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
For my sins..I'm putting it with an agency as it's my first btl. They want it furnished so have to make sure it's kitted out right.
Good idea though about the frame.0 -
This is the url for the Furniture Reuse Network - They have hundreds of members nationwide - there objective is to provide low cost/ no furniture to people that need it - they also sell furniture at reasonable cost.
Remember - reduce reuse recycle

In our area, West Yorkshire, our Salvation Army furniture shop will only sell sofas etc that they have checked out to make sure they meet regulations. We bought a fantastic armchair from there for £10 well worth a look. Call their shops and ask if they have a furniture shop in your area.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Hopefully you'll have a British Heart Foundation Electrical/Furniture shop near you. They sell cheap sofas (complete with the fire reg labels on them) as well as electrical goodies (all checked out) and wardrobes etc. I have bought a bookcase from them for £10, a video player for £10, a filing cabinet with shelving for £30 and an antique chest of drawers for £25.
You could also look for an MFI clearance centre - I know there is one at Merry Hill where I bought a leather sofa for £175! Bargain!
Beds - really need to be new - try going to a cheap bed shop such as VIP Beds, I would avoid Dreams personally.
With regards to renting, it is harder to evict a tenant if they have rented the flat unfurnished.0 -

that was the old laws. the six month tenancy agreement changed all that.Get some gorm.0

Sorry Horace, but this is nonsense.
OP if you can't afford furniture then I'd let it as unfurnished. There are people out there who don't own houses but do own furniture!
You can also let a property as part furnished. Some people might prefer to sleep on a bed they have chosen for softness/hardness. If they already have one they won't want to have to pay to store it.0 -
Have you tried asking friends and family? I have soooo much furniture in my garage that I cant' bear to throw out but is just there doing nothing........No harm in asking!0
