Dimmer Light switches question?

A loose connection.
Probably due to the wiring/fitting being disturbed.
Wiring has not been disturbed yet as we have not called the electrician to do the wiring yet. Only disturbance as I know so far is taking the porch roof off as explained above.
Taking the porch roof off did not cause any loose connections.0 -

At this point it's all really a guessing game. You need to get an electrician to take a look at it.0

Ok understood many thanks I keep you guys updated. So far I terminated the Porch wires myself with of course the main electrical mains turned off beforehand.
Why pay up to £80 call out charge for an electrician when simple electrical works can be done by anyone with the help and advice from the friendly people here on these forums.
It is a guessing game but hopefully we can pinpoint the guesses to a few remaining guesses. Could be fuse, could be it will need a whole rewire which an electrician is required.
Im afraid and cannot afford to pay £80 call out charge for an electrician to diagnose its a fuse problem for example when we can diagnose this ourselves for free

Only if they are all on the same circuit, which is very unlikely-there would normally be at least two lighting circuits, one up and one down.
OP< which circuit is the porch light on?
Hi,
I checked and the downstairs lights and landing and porch lights are all on the same circuit. I replaced the 5 amp wylex fuse in the old wylex fuse box but still have the same bulbs flashing problem.
These wirex fuses are re-wirable. All bulbs on this circuit are LED's. All flashing. Never had this problem since I fit led bulbs earlier this year.
There are a few dimmer switches on the circuit and led bulbs are not dimmable though. I replaced one of led bulb with normal energy bulb but still have flickering problem with added buzzing noise.0 -
Bump any advice please0

I'm curious as to why you'd want a dimmer switch on a light in your porch? In fact any dimmer switches at all? We had one on a ceiling light in our bedroom, it didn't make it romantic, it just made it gloomy!Make £2026 in 2026
