It usually wont just say £40 a month though. It tells you the first/upfront payment and then the remaining 10/11 month payments along with the total overall cost.
Then when you click to buy, it gives you the full breakdown including rate the interest is charged at, total amount borrowed, total interest, total repayable etc (and that full breakdown is also included on your policy documents).

Oh i know, however the headline "pitch" usually passes a cursory glance at looking ok.
