Hi
I normally post on another thread but was passed over here for advice
DH was given low rate DLA back in 2002 when he was paid off by the local council where he worked Pensioned off
Union sorted out the claim and it was ongoing until last month
He is hopeless at giving his symptoms always minimises everything Very proud and wont complain etc
He scored zero in his assessment
Apart from CAB is there anywhere he can go for help with the appeal paperwork and representation if required
We have no paperwork from his employer as we were told the award for life HE has HAVS and is in agony most of the time and our life is structured around a way of life that make him feel normal so he does not see issues as he told the assessor
Thanks

Where would you see the necessary 8 points for Daily Living coming from?
https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-points-system
1. Preparing food. - Needs supervision or assistance to either prepare or cook a simple meal. 4 points.
2. Taking nutrition. - b. Needs –
(i) to use an aid or appliance to be able to take nutrition; or
(ii) supervision to be able to take nutrition; or
(iii) assistance to be able to cut up food. 2 points.
6. Dressing and undressing. - e. Needs assistance to be able to dress or undress their upper body. 4 points.
Would these apply?
Would DH take more than twice as long as others to do these tasks without assistance?
Could he do these tasks reliably for the majority of the time?

Any Law Centres locally which offer benefits help?
But these have had their funding cut under Ken Clarke in the 2010 government
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/legal-aid-cuts-amnesty-international-justice-access-vulnerable-people-a7354296.html
CAB funding has also been cut, thus further reducing any help for people fighting flawed benefit decisions.
If DH wants an award he has to be honest about the effects it has on his life.
Did he disclose these on the PIP2 form?
Can you get 8 points from this form?
If not, then a successful appeal may be an uphill struggle.
It's certainly not worth doing if he won't talk to the tribunal about his difficulties.
If this is the case, would suggest re-applying for PIP when he is willing to disclose and talk about the problems he has, and is more determined to actually achieve an PIP award.
Have you looked at IIDB?

Off for a reas back ???? Don't understand this. What do you mean?
Does DH have physical back related difficulties in addition to hand arm vibration syndrome?
This could be important for PIP.
Do I take it that your DH also suffers from depression / anxiety?
It wouldn't be surprising, as physical pain / restriction is very difficult to come to terms with.

My granda had "white finger" and got help from a miners welfare association with the DLA forms. Is there something similar for your husbands old profession?0
