brake pad uneven wear

hi
I have uneven brake pad wear on my rear brakes, it looks like its a sticking caliper on one side that has already been cleaned when the pads were fitted but its still sticking, so I'm going to get a new caliper fitted.
The pad that's fine is about 30% worn so has way over half its thickness left, the pad that's sticking is about more than half way worn, id say its about 60 - 70% worn roughly.
My question is, if I get the one sticking caliper replaced, can I keep both brake pads on the car? or will both pads needs replacing as there unevenly worn ? shame to waste a good pad.
Thanks

Surely for all the price of pads you'd be as well to replace them?0

if the sticking caliper starts working and doesn't need replacing, can I carry on using the pads till the one that has the least thickness wears down? or will the pads still need changing?
As the calipers have been cleaned twice I can only assume it needs replacing? the garage didn't say.0 -

In theory no, although the pads could be glazed because of the heat / sticking.0 -
Are you sure it's the caliper and not the slide pins sticking or the brake pad clips catching - did the garage change these or reuse them.0

You can refit the pads, but brake pads are not expensive, about £15/£20; it could cost you that much to get them fitted. So with only 30% left that would be a lot sooner.0 -

not sure to be honest, I was standing watching him fit the pads which he was struggling with because they wouldn't fit freely (pagid pads on honda frv) so he kept filling the brake pads till they fitted.
He also greased the caliper. to be honest I dont know what
else he did or whether he took it apart or not. I dont know anything about calipers or pins I assume he did it as I took it back after a few days saying there sticking so he took it off and re greased them.
The other thing they said which I forgot to mention is that the rear brake discs are quite rusty.
I got the car last year and the rear passenger side was wearing unevenly and after having the pads replaced its still the same.
at this point in time I can either replace the caliper or the discs but not both due to lack of money.0 -

You should never need to file brake pads to make them fit!. You should take the car to someone who knows what they are doing or learn to do them yourself if your short of money.
But not having enough money is no excuse to neglect maintenance of your cars brakes. You shouldn't have a car if you can't afford to keep it in a safe condition.0 -

It was taken to a reputable garage not just any.
Well then the pads are made wrong for the car and the garage should order a set of quality pads which are manufactured to the correct specifications. If you bought them yourself then a reputable garage would refuse to fit them if they needed to be filed down.0 -

it was supply and fit from the garage. I didn't supply.
what other reasons could there be apart from what's mentioned? because the calipers been greased twice, the pads been removed and re fitted twice.
I read somewhere it could be the hose pipe that operates the caliper? should the garage be automatically checking this?0
