Going on holiday soon, was after some advice re TV downloads(from iplayer, itv,4od,Netflix,Itunes). Was wondering:
- if I can download in UK onto Ipad and watch when travelling through France/Spain?
- How I can download UK programmes in France/Spain for return journey from the above channels?
- Are there restrictions watching/downloading these from outside uk?

If you download from iPlayer in the UK then you can watch abroad without any problem. However, you will not be able to view or download anything using iPlayer from abroad as the iPlayer server will detect a non UK IP address and prevent you from accessing its services.
I regularly travel to northern Spain and I've tried time and time again to make it work - but it never does (I always live in hope lol). There is however an app called Catch Up TV that allows me to watch live BBC and ITV content overseas, but it's for streaming live programmes - not for downloading.0 -
To some extent you can circumvent the overseas TV restrictions with a VPN, although it's a game of cat and mouse with regard to the TV providers blocking some IP addresses, the VPN people then change them, etc.
I used CyberGhost in Spain to watch BBC iPlayer via local WiFi a few weeks ago, they have a specific setting for TV streaming with settings for BBC, Sky Go, Amazon Prime and a few others. They don't mention the ITV hub though.
No doubt other VPN services offer similar features.
The whole business of restricting TV viewing across Europe is a joke, almost every British bar in Spain has U.K. TV and plenty show Sky Sports too.0 -
There are aps which enable you to watch iPlayer and other catch up services whilst overseas, e.g. Tunnel Bear"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I travel around Europe a lot and use iPlayer,40d and itv hub without any problems via a vpn. I used to use a work connection as it gets me a UK ip but i decided to buy my own and have used ipvanish previously but now I used nordvpn0

You could always set up your own VPN server... the only thing is that you won't easily be able to reboot it if you get disconnected (unless there is someone at home who can do this for you).0
