Credit Card / Loans / Finance

Hi!
I am looking at all my options for 2 reasons
My car's HP ends in October, with a final fee of 5500
Health treatment that i need/want doing privately

I have never had a credit card or a personal loan, only car finance and HP finance.

the amount i need to borrow is 9k, Ideally i would like to continue to finance my car and take out a 3k loan for the operation. i have no real knowledge other than reading through other peoples questions of how this works.
my concern is that i will be approved for my car finance and then won't be able to apply or be approved for a loan as well. would i be better off getting a personal loan for the total sum, or bring a credit card into the equation.

my outgoings are around £350, income is just over£18k
my credit rating is good

PLEASE HELP! all advice welcomed, very new to this!
thank you :)

Perhaps we should just take the OP's question as is?

OP getting a loan for £9k might be tight if you earn £18k, are your outgoings £350 a week or a month, if the latter you should have plenty of affordability.

How much is the car costing you currently, as this can be factored into calculations, though if you can afford a loan you should have money spare every month, which means you should be saving currently.

Also as the car gets older you need to factor in more money for maintenance and repairs.
  • You could consider an interest free credit card for the £3k providing you can afford the capital repayments. Free debt! At the end of the interest free term you may be able to transfer to another interest free card however there is no guarantee these would be available. With any debt make sure you can afford the repayments before getting into any contract.
