    I’ve not been here long, but that fellow does make some very odd posts.

    He also seems to manage to argue himself in a complete circle in some threads, a sort of pseudo-financial Dave Spart.

    If the OP is the only one reading this thread you are correct. However if this thread is read by others then it may be useful. Since when has a thread been the exclusive domain of the Opening Poster?

    It's not, but why dig around for a 6 month old thread in the first place, and then why post a worse solution than the one that was provided at the time?

    In fact I've long thought, and have argued for on occasion, that threads with no activity for a reasonable length of time should be locked so that they can't be resurrected.

    It does amuse me when a thread appears from 2010, I've got tickets to see Micheal Jackson at the O2 but can't make it etc and answers are offered like the post was created yesterday.
