    The company may be right, but without knowing the specification of the steel frame, one cannot be sure. Personally I would always insist on a lintel. But I have to admit in some spheres I am over-cautious and a bit belt and braces.
    If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    I am the same as you - I feel we should have had the option to fit a lintel if we wanted to. but because of their mistake and the delay to fitting. We did not have a chance.
  • Did you mention that you'd want a reduction when they fitted the door a week late or just agree to the late fitting at the time?

    Did you make time of the essence at the time of placing the order?

    If not, then the date given is only an estimate, not a contractual obligation.

    We agreed to the contract over email and said:
    "We agree to the contract with the understanding that the door will be fitted on xx/xx(date booked)"


    This is all captured on email - so if they did not achieve the terms that we specified when agreeing to the contract, is the contract even still valid?
