Switching away from Lloyds, not allowed to make internet payments

Hi,

I don't know why I believe all the "painless" stuff about the Current Account Switching service.

Switching away from Lloyds, process started yesterday, completing September 4th. Just tried to pay a credit card bill via internet banking and could not. Called help line and they say that because switching has started I can no longer make payments via internet banking.
Anyone else been locked out like this before? Pretty p***ed off that I was not told this would happen.

I realise that I can pay that one by debit card but it could be tricky if something else comes up...

Mike

You can make payments to existing recipients, but not set new ones up. The list will have already been sent to your new bank, along with DDs & SOs. Yes it is a pain until you switch :-(

I could understand not setting up new ones but the card co. I'm trying to pay have been set up for years.
I've complained to Current Account Switch Service who say they are going to "talk" to Lloyds.

That's strange, I get an error when trying to setup a new payment but am able to use the existing ones fine.

Well in my case I can't setup the transfer to my new account, to move funds there. However it will let me use an existing one to transfer to another current account, and from there into my new account. If you don't already have something like that setup then it looks like it's not possible to move funds into the new account, so you can't pay the bill from there either. Unless you goto a cashpoint, withdraw & pay into the new account!

That's the rouble with these 'we'll do everything for you' services. They do not give you the full picture. If it wasn't for switching incentives, and I wanted to switch account, I would do it all myself, and have done in the past. And would do again in the future. That way you are in control, as when something goes wrong, you are not likely to know about it until it's too late. At least if two accounts were running in tandem together for a while, with a positive balance in both, you would pick up on, and resolve, any issues.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Because it has £7.50 in it.

Ah, finally spoke to someone who knew a little more.
I can make payments to existing payees but they have to be done there and then. Even if I try and set one up a week before the switch is due to complete it will not work.
If only that had been made clear at the outset.....or perhaps with a less useless "something has gone wrong" error message on the Lloyd's banking site.
