They could've been negotiating with an EU in the doldrums and the UK at the top of the G7 growth table.

As was the case not so very long ago. Trouble is "growth" by itself means little. CrossRail has boosted construction figures in recent years. Projects of that nature only come about every so often. If the EU builds new roads. Doesn't mean that more people are finding jobs in the poorer Eastern states.

I will be reminding you of this statement when the good trade deal is done.

What'll more likely happen is a trade deal will be done; the brexiters will declare it good (if agreed by a Tory Government) and you'll enjoy getting one over on the remoaners with zero analysis.

If you think thousands of Irish citizens and French farmers as but will merrily play along with an impending harmful trade settlement, you really don't understand the Human condition.

They'll have to suck it up just like I've been advised to.

We voted to leave and they'll have to be grateful for whatever scraps we throw them.

An absolutely stinging snub for Theresa May and the Little Englander crew.

MEPs have delivered a blow to Theresa May by demanding talks on a post-Brexit trade deal with the EU are delayed because of Britain’s confused stance.
The European Parliament overwhelmingly passed a motion warning that “sufficient progress has not yet been made” on first agreeing the divorce deal.

    Ouch.

So I am waiting for the point where they give us everything we want because they need us more than we need them and they won't sacrifice their giant economy for lack of British pluck. Oh just before the EU collapses completely like a house of cards. Insert any other ill conceived Brexiteer nonsense you wish...

Oh yeah, the £350 million a week for the NHS is arriving in a Monarch charter flight any minute.

Excellent news. Should result in yet more tourist visits to the UK. In the year to July visitor numbers are up 4%. With a related increase in spend. Tourism being a major contributor to the UK's economy.

That will make up for the 15-20% increase in cost of goods caused by fall in pound wont it?

Only a deluded Leaver would make this argument...

GDP and growth aren't data independent of what's happening in the economy you know. Play it down by all means.

If you're playing it down because you think there are better measures to judge economies then fair enough; if you're playing it down because things happening in the economy (crossrail/ road building) influence it then you need to take a step back.

Britain CAN start EU trade talks by end of the year, European officials tell Theresa May

EUROPEAN Union bosses have informed Theresa May that Brexit talks can resume in time for Christmas.

I thought the best outcome of the Florence speech would be if it gave the EU the impression the UK government were united in their approach. If the EU, as some assert, don't want to or can't negotiate Boris the Clown is giving them the perfect cop out.
“The question for the moment is who shall I call in London [on Brexit]?” Weber said. “Who speaks for the British government – Theresa May, Boris Johnson, or even David Davis?

“By reading Johnson’s attacks against his own prime minister he shows the British government is trapped by their own party quarrels and political contradictions … Please sack Johnson because we will have clear answers as to who is responsible for the British position.”

As ever fact-free Remainers ignored the reports of UK manufacturing up at those sorts of levels reported several times in the last 10 months and posted here.

Also note some EU nations are growing form a very low base and sustained poor performance over years since 2010

I pity those remoaners scanning the news everyday for bad news stories which get them all excited - bizarre - doomed we're all doomed.....

As oft' stated, B2L investors went into hibernation as predicted due to big tax hikes feeding through. That was a key market for developers - once again you ignore reality. It's no surprise if Developers are feeling the effects of dumb policy

Typical for a mortgage flogger to equate 'construction' with 'house building'.
If you had bothered reading the report I linked to, you would have noticed that house building was actually the only construction activity still registering some expansion. :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Is Weber part of the EU negotiating team? Nope. He's just another MEP who has no part of the negotiations and doesn't need to call anybody. Typical Grauniad non-story.
