Slightly off topic, but does anyone know where I can buy postcards from to enter these postal comps? I've looked in Tesco & Sainsburys and a few card/stationary stores but can't find them at all. Ta
My local Spar shop sells plain ones in packs of 25 for 89p. I print my details on the front with my PC then all I have to do is write the address I'm sending to on the back.
  • Is it just me or are there not that many postal comps to be had any more? My mum used to comp a few years ago and was sending off at least 50 postal entries each week?

    Kind regards

Hi CheekyLittleMonkey :) If you have a look in the Comping Guide, Getting Started II section, item 7 has some tips for postcard entry comps, including alternatives to buying postcards! :)

    Good luck with your comps!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
  • Thanks Korky, I will have a look at that site now! Mum always thought she won more with the postcards than with the websites

  • OK, another question, can I enter the Prima / Take a break comps more than once or are they one entry pp?

not sure of prima, but i enter the take a break ones for me, then hubby and i enter for mum as well, i do that with thats life, real people etc

i do loads of postal comps, well the amount of mags i buy anyway:rotfl: i also enter the ones on loquax, lot on there, there is also winners friend, my comps, simply prizes, have to subscribe to those but always a good enough selection in there

also look in your local paper for comps, look out for entry forms in store etc

for postcards i use postcards online, think its £9 for a big pack of them, no cinemas near me that stock postcards, nearest one is 50 miles away!

gonna start posting more comps soon, as i have subscribed to loads of mags, stops dh moaning that im buying loads of mags:rolleyes:

Thanks for the info. Do you find that there is a lot of repetition between Winners friend etc and this forum? I'm thinking of subscribing too.

    Ha ha Princess...

I must stress I was a member of this forum long before I started working for Winner's Friend and Simply Prizes (I've been there less than 2 months!). I won't talk shop here, but I do find that there a lot less postal comps than there used to be. From my experience of working in mags, postal competitions can be a nightmare... in my first job, I spent days in a windowless room with giant sacks of mail, sorting out the various competitions! So much easier just to open a database or an inbox full of e mails to sort the stuff out!

I guess more people have access to the internet now, and entering online is pretty much free if you have broadband anyway.

My personal rule with comping is that the harder it is to enter, the less people will bother and the more chance I have of winning!

As for postcards, nice them from the cinema. Honestly, I just go in there and take a few, even if I'm not going to see a film... ;)
Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!
