SSE Airtricity refund
Hi everyone,
One for those living in Northern Ireland/ROI.
I've just applied to move from SSE airtricity to Electric Ireland who have a good cashback offer for the first year.
SSE have sent me an email to confirm that I'm moving. The email says:
"We will issue your final bill in the next few days. If there is an amount owing, this will be debited as normal 14 days after your bill is issued. Alternatively If your final bill displays a credit, please contact our Customer Service Team to arrange a refund."
This really doesnt seem right to me. Currently I've been overcharged by £70 for the past year, and SSE know this, yet it's up to me to phone up their call centre to get a refund. Surely if a company knows they've overcharged you they have a responsibility to refund it?
I emailed their customer service team about this but haven't recieved a reply yet.
Any thoughts?

I did exactly this a short while ago. Switched from SSE Airtricity to Electric Ireland.
I got my refund after about 6 weeks. It was only £11 but I did not have to chase this up at all. The refund went straight into my bank account as I had been paying by direct debit.0
