Hello all moneysavingexperts!
Can anyone advise me on a way of getting around the fact that i cannot transfer from my ulster card to my new 0% RBS card as they're the same company? I have a large enough overdraft facility on my current account - could i pay off my ulster card using my current account debit card and then balance transfer from my current account debit card onto my new RBS card?
many thanks for any comments or suggestions

Hi Hubbles
Welcome to MSE!
RBS would do this for you but it's classed as a money transfer, which is very expensive.Could I ... balance transfer from my current account debit card onto my new RBS card?
Also, I believe money transfers are restricted to 50% of your credit limit.
What other credit cards do you have at the mo?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Ahh i see so a debit card is not considered suitable for a balance transfer and more a cash advance? I also have goldfish and barclaycard both 0% - is there any other way around the same parent company problem? my ulster ran out yesterday - i should have checked first who RBS were affiliated with.. Thanks very much for the advice Moggles,

Pay off Ulster with RBS using the 'Egg Money Card Trick':

Thanks Yorkshireboy - thats a brilliant idea - so effectively i credit one of the other cards with my new RBS card and then use the newly credited card to pay off the Ulster?0

Yes, but the 'other card' needs to be Egg Money, or another card that permits positive balances.Hubbles101 wrote: »Thanks Yorkshireboy - thats a brilliant idea - so effectively i credit one of the other cards with my new RBS card and then use the newly credited card to pay off the Ulster?
If you try and place one of your other cards in credit, they could suspend your account and/or send the money straight back to RBS - meaning you've wasted a 2.5% BT fee.0 -
Im off to apply for Egg money! Thanks again YorkshireBoy!!:j0
