Underlay for luxury vinyl flooring

Is anyone able to recommend the most suitable underlay for luxury vinyl flooring?

Would I be looking to buy plyboard? fibreboard? What depth is ideal? Structural/non-structural?

Have asked around for a few quotes and I'm sure the fitters will be able to tell me.... but was hoping to shop around a bit first if I can find out what the typical solution is.

Thanks,
Matt

Is this a glue-down flooring or the click-loc tiles ?

The former would need a solid level substrate such as concrete or chipboard/plywood.

The click-loc tiles are floating like laminate flooring (i.e. not glued down or nailed in place). I've just laid a kitchen floor in the last week or so - Half on concrete, the remainder on a suspended timber floor (chipboard). The concrete part required a bit of self leveling compound to bring it level with the wooden part. I then laid a damp proof membrane over the entire floor followed by a single layer of 5mm fibreboard laminate underlay - http://www.screwfix.com/p/wood-fibre-underlay-boards-7m/7824r - Probably not what the manufacturers would recommend...
