    +1 to AndyPix.

I didn't know you could get hard drives as small as 128 GB any more, unless it was an SSD, and I can't see any reference to that...

Maybe have a look through some of these?

  • A friend recently bought an Acer laptop (Aspire ES 15.6") and I find the touch pad buttons stiff and awkward to use. The screen on the Aspire seemed very glossy, resembling a glass sheet. Earlier ones seemed better. I would try one before buying, perhaps PC World or Tesco?

A 14" screen size is smaller than many these days (usually most are 15.6").

The good news is the battery life. There are suggestions on the Argos site that this particular model may have an SSD (as opposed to spinning disk) hard drive, but one of the Q&As mentions a lower cost type of SSD that may have performance and life expectancy issues.

I would ignore the "buy a professional grade used laptop" type answer, I'm typing this reply on an Asus that cost £249 from Argos and it's lasted longer than the 2 x Toshiba and 1 x Fujitsu-Siemens (all "professional") models I had, and is far better to use than my OHs works Lenovos in her office too...

FWIW, support from Tesco seems excellent. An 0800 number to call for computer support and they talk you through issues that may not be directly related to the hardware, ie Windows issues.

    I would ignore that .

By buying a refurb pro laptop (a good one, not a fujitsu-siemens lol) you get a proper solid computer designed to last.
Yes, you may get lucky and your piece of plastic from argos MIGHT last, but generally they are all rubbish.
If you get the machine linked to by Hans you would be a very happy bunny
