Denied Student discount at topman

Hi,
I was denied my 10% student discount at topman the other day because appartly i have to have photo ID with my UCAS card. Well i was paying with my debit card that has my name on and they still said i could have a discount.
I should of asked for the manager but was in a rush so didn't bother. Are they actualy allowed to ask for photo ID or was this just someone who didn't know how to do it on the till.

Which type of NUS card do you have? is it the NUS Extar one..... i have that and have no problems,
do you not have your student id with you when you shop - best thing to do is just keep it with always, but they should have not denied you your 10%0 -
It was a UCAS Card. Don't have student id as i'm currently 17 in sixth formCashback sites are worth it:

New look refused me discount when i showed them my temp student registration/ nus I.D. card saying I needed a photo, I argued and showed them my driving liscence to with my name on. refused again. went to another new look and they did it straight away with no problemsLuV_oR_h8_Me0

i was denied discount at burtons as i needed a photo id aswell so i just showed them my driver liscence and they said that was fine as the name matched. I would either take this or your passport with you next time.
6th form is another way to get A- levels rather than going to college. I went there and im from up north :S
Hope this helpsIf my comment has helped you in anyway... Please press the thanks button!

you can't expect discounts for free.
UCAS card is just a 'free' student card so most shops won't take them.
buy an NUS card0 -
You don't need to pay for a basic NUS card, and they are accepted at Topman/ DP etc.Gone ... or have I?0

I know New look wont accept your basic student ID cards, they need the NUS card with your photo on it.
Otherwise most places should accept a NUS or your standard uni cards.
Dont bother buying a NUS card, the basic one is free and that does you for alot of stuff. Plus if you pay for it, thats eating into the discount you get anyway so there isnt alot of point.
Oh and use your NUS card to get a free cheeseburger in mcdonalds if you buy something else. I did it yesterday and she actually asked me what i wanted free so i guess it doesnt have to be just a cheeseburger0
