Whistling Hob

Hi, We have a brand new £2000 range cooker. Two of the hobs (identical sized) ones whistle when on around mid point from high to simmer. Two engineers have been out and they both cannot fix it and just say thats the way it is, apparently it is common.
The noise is a very low high pitched noise but instantly noticeable and it drives e crazy. I am not happy with it.
I am about to approach them for a refund but it is used now at 3 weeks old, plus I assume they won't bother offering a replacement because it's obviously 'just the way it is' will just be the same with the next one. I will also have to fork out for an installation again for the second new and different cooker.
Is this a fault or is it me being fussy and can I ask for a refund of the installation cost too?

Gas or electric?0

Hi,
Its a gas hob (oven are electric if that matters).0 -
It's common with gas hobs, my last one did it on all four burners, my current one does it on one burner and only if it is turned down half way or lower, my mums does it on two, my sister in law's does it on two. You learn to block it out eventually0

If you want to reject it for a refund, you can do so under consumer rights act - you are entitled to use your "short term right to reject" - this means you don't need to allow them a chance to repair or replace
BUT you need to prove there is a fault (rather than 'thats just the way it is') and that it is inherent.
Edit - you have to use your short term right to reject in the first 30 days0 -
Hi, three weeks later I have not got used to it. There is a screw to adjust which the engineers have adjusted but it just moves where you hear the high pitch noise. I appreciate your empathy netherthless thank you.
However, on a consumer rights point of view have I got a strong argument? The fact there are people out there that can put up with it does not help me lol. I have never had or heard of a cooker that produces this noise. What does help me I guess is that it is 3 weeks old. Please bear in mind this is a top of the range cooker too. If you had rolls Royce and it was not 100% perfect you wouldn't put up with it. Ok this is not rolls territory in grand schemes but Audi/merc/BMW at least.0 -

Difficult call to make imo especially without any knowledge/expertise on gas fixtures & appliances.
Generally, goods are not of satisfactory quality if they fail to meet the standard a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory taking account of the description, price paid & all other relevant circumstances.
The problem you have here is that the issue may not fail to meet the standard a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory.
But its technically up to you to prove that the goods don't conform to contract. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
