Economy 7 - two standing charges very expensive

  • Yes it is an E10 set up - specifically heatwise, and I would like to keep the afternoon boost. We don't really have enough storage heaters to heat the whole house without it especially as there is someone home all day and evening.

I didn't realise that EON had stopped dealing with these meters, I thought as legacy providers they were obliged to. It would explain why they are ignoring my requests for details of their tariff.

Really don't know what to do for the best, I was planning to try and put up with this meter until the next generation of smart meters came out so that we could just switch once but if I'm going to be landed with two standing charges that is going to get pricey.
  • Has anyone any ideas of suppliers that are willing to supply power to my old Off Peak system.. ? I have 2 meters, one is reading the day to day electricity usage...... the other heats my hot water tank and storage radiators in the winter months at a reduced rate for 7 hours overnight and 3 hours in the afternoon.... I am with EDF..... Are there any others that will supply me ?

Hello, and welcome to MSE :hello:

Thanks for bumping this thread, it gives me an opportunity to reiterate my golden rule for all those with such legacy metering in place.

Do not attempt to switch supplier with such legacy metering. Attempts by others to do so have inviariably resulted in tears.
