Can an employer to tell you to shave your beard off? My job involves working front of house greeting customers. If I refuse to shave it, can I be fired and if so I doubt I can claim JSA. Not sure what to do if I have to shave it off then I will but I'd rather not. (Sorry if it's in the wrong section....I can't post in the CAB basic rights at work section).

Can't vouch for the legality of it but until very recently Aldi had a no beard policy.0

Are you a Muslim, Sikh, or a member of another religious or cultural group where beard wearing is a requirement? If not, the answer is yes, they can.0

That is a load of old tosh, there is no "requirement" for them to have beards, it is a conscious decision based on culture.
I know muslim and sikh men who do not have beards.0 -
Following on from that, if you said you have a beard because you're a member of one of these religions, would there then be a requirement to prove your religious membership, and if so how would that be done?0

Are they opposed to beards per se or is it just your beard they object to?0

Indeed
And likewise is it a full on neatly kept beard or a few days stubble.0 -
^^ Do not take the above advice.
EDIT: The post I was referring to has disappeared which means mine is now disparaging a perfectly reasonable post. Ignore it.0 -
Hi there. They cannot tell you to shave your beard off as this is against your human rights. There is no harm in you having a beard and if they sack you, I suggest seeking legal advice as that is an example of unfair dismissal.0

Article 4.2 The Human Right to Bear Hair!
OP, is your beard for religious reasons?0
