Test drive gtr and e63

Hi guys,

I own an m5 and want to test drive gtr and e63 and mustang to make my mind up and upgrade

Question I have is, how would you stop pushey sales people once you have done the test drive?

2. How will you get extended test drive? I don't want to go around the corner and back. I want to get a feel for it

Surely if you plumped for the Mustang it would be a downgrade?

    My approach :-

Ring up in advance, ask to speak to a salesperson, tell them the car you're interested in, and ask for an appointment to view and test drive it. If you are trading in, give them all the details of your car so they can "do their homework" on yours in the meantime.

Generally you're going to get a decent test drive by default on kit like this, but if they're not forthcoming, tell them you need one to enable you to make a commitment.

Our local Ford dealer threw us the keys of their Mustang and said "give it a good run" but thats not the norm. The Merc dealer we subsequently bought our AMG A45 from did the whole extended test drive thing - we were out for 3/4 of an hour in it with him.

We got a BMW Z4 3.0Si Coupe for a weekend from our local BMW dealer. I'm not sure how common that is - or would be on high end performance stuff - these days.

Get all the figures and tell him you need to sleep on it. If they ring and start hassling then tell them the truth - you need to test drive a couple of other cars before you can commit.

The Mustang is a funny thing - looks exceptional on paper, doesnt really deliver. If you like your M5 i dont think you'll warm to a Mustang.

Also worth noting discounts are non existent and waiting times long. You can get big discounts off BMW, Merc, etc which reduces the price gap considerably.

Ford USA don't believe in rust protection, I am assured by hearsay that Mustangs are shipped straight from the USA to Belgium to have rudimentary rust proofing applied before they go on sale here.

A quick google shows owners get the job done again properly after purchase if the car is likely to be a keeper.

Reminds me of The Olden Days, when your first trip in a new car was to get it Ziebarted (didn't work, probably as they were pretty rusty from the factory)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

So you've managed to get to a position in life where you can afford to buy and run a £75-85k car, yet you can't do the most basic management of sales negotiations?

    How?

It does sound a bit of a DM post.

I'd be suspicious was it not for the OP's join date although he is in the habit of starting threads then disappearing, especially if he's asked for specific details.

It was only the join date that prevented me posting the same thing. Any thread with M5 in it instantly comes under suspicion these days - and if it was a Yaris that was being tested rather than a GTR that would have confirmed it :D.
