    But why did your son agree to having his non-existent aircon regassed in the first place?
    Even it if was a 'genuine mistake', they are not entitled to charge for work not done, so tell him to contact them and insist on a refund.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Many years ago I had a minor service done at a well known chain, when I collected the car they had billed me a lot extra to change the coolant, I even got a lecture from the young technician who had done the service because the original coolant "was in a shocking state" "probably hadn't been changed since new etc."

    I asked him to show me how he had added/removed the coolant from my aircooled VW and he was trying to show me when the branch manager quickly stepped in and explained that there had been "a misunderstanding"...

    Tried it on with me when I had 2 new tyres fitted which were ordered online the assistant said Oh we done your tracking that will be another £45+vat.I told him I'm not paying any extra amount they wanted as I never asked for the work to be done ,I actually never saw any body check the wheel alignment
