Hi I phoned the Pension Services to see if this HRP had been added to my pension.
I had 2 children 1965 and 1967, and I have only just found that I could qualify for this.
I have been told as I paid the small married womens stamp for approx 3 months in 1979 I havent qualified.
That is the only time that I worked between 1973 and 1988 it seems a bit strong to have it refused for 3 months work.
Is it worth apealing and as it is only for approx 3 years is it worth it
Annie

You would ordinarily be able to claim HRP for 78,79,80,81 and 82 (depending on childrens DOB).
IIRC, and its a while since I dealt with HRP and MWE.
Paying MWE in 1979 should only disqualify you for at most 1978, 1979 and 1980. The MWE would lapse after 2 tax yrs in you paid no conts, so in thery if it was after april 1978 when you worked, then you would have been registered for MWE for 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Therefore it seems that you would been entitled to it for 81 and 82, providing your name was on the Child Benefit book.
I would contact HMRC (main switchboard 0191 2135000) and speak to someone in the dept dealing with HRP.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
