PhoneCall from DWP Regarding PIP claim

HI Folks, I made my first application for PIP via telephone on the 24/07/17. I received my application pack within a week and filled it out and sent back on the 01/08/17. I then got a text from DWP on the 04/08/17 saying they had received the form and they would contact me with a decision. I had heard nothing until today 23/08/17 when I received a phone call from an assessor from the DWP department, he asked some general questions about my application, basically like things I had written on the form regarding my condition, for example how I get about, if I use a wheelchair and the supplier of it (for mine it is nhs wheelchair services) he wasn't trying to trip me up with any of the questions he asked, just general day to day living. He then thanked me for my time and then told me I would receive a letter through the post within the next seven days with my PIP decision. Has anybody else had this experience or similar? FYI I do not have a terminal illness but have had a dense stroke which has left me half paralysed and wheelchair bound.
Kind regards
Chris

Seems like you're about to have a paper based decision and the DM just needed to ask those few questions before making a decision. Paper based decisions are rare but they do happen. It doesn't mean anything at this stage because you can be refused with an assessment. It doens't sound this way for you and hopefully it isn't. Maybe if you ring tomorrow about this time they maybe able to tell you if a decision has been made. Good luck!

Probably just checking that you exist on the telephone number you gave them and not a fictitious application.
I had a phone call after 9 months to say my first payment was going through, hope you do too but B4 9 months.

I highly doubt that seeing as the OP stated that the decision maker on the phone clearly said that a decision would be made in the next 7 days.

  • I had a call from an advisor, checked basics about my son's condition they was awarded his high rates again about 2 weeks later.
  • My sister applied for PIP when she was told to once her DLA was about to end. She has bipolar and wasn't going to bother as she is currently stable, but she did upon advice as it fluctuates, Included a list of medication and details of her care coordinator and doctor, she got a phone call a few weeks later told them she was ok at the minute and explained she's working part time but has to take sick sometimes and those times she needs extra care. The person on the phone said they were trying to avoid a face to face if they could
Awarded her the standard rate which is the same as she was getting before pretty much
