Capital One Credit Card

in Credit cards
I wanted to ask if anyone knew what the criteria was at Capital One in a request to write off some credit card debt on medical grounds.
I send Capital One a detail income and expenditure sheet, proof of income, and proof of medical problems.
I ask if the balance could be written off on medical grounds an inability to pay.
They have refused, saying my request didn't match their criteria.
Didn't know they had a criteria when requesting a debt write off!!
I only owe a small amount of £362 but can't pay as I only have £110 per week ESA coming in an am struggling to maintain minimum payments each month.
Does anyone know!?

Of course they have criteria for writing off debt.
Agree a payment plan with them.0 -
Does anyone know what their criteria is for writing off the debt?0

They are confidential, for obvious reasons.0

I don't see why they wont help. I showed them my doctors report that I have an ongoing mental health condition, and an income and expenditure, yet they wont write off the debt!!
There is no prospect of me working as I explained. Debt is only for £362 so can't see why not?0 -

That may well be exactly why not.0 -

Well, I don't think its a lot of money, and I had £9K worth of debt written off by the Halifax on medical grounds, so why are Captial One not being helpful!?0 -
Because it's not a lot of money.
They are also not Halifax and have different policies.0 -
Could I not argue that under FCA consumer credit Sourcebook, I have evidence of the fact that they had given me what is called "unsuitable" credit?
I do have some other outstanding debts, a below then average credit score, and limited funds available.
Under FCA CONC rule of 2.2.2 it does state that they should not lend to people who have poor credit history, indebtness elsewhere, and other factors?
There are several CONC rules that I feel Capital One has breached?0 -
Having other debts and a low fictional credit score doesn't preclude you from borrowing.
There are very, very few mainstream cases of irresponsible lending. Many of irresponsible borrowing though.0 -
CONC 2.2.2 reads as follows:-
(1) targeting customers with regulated credit agreements which are unsuitable for them, by virtue of their indebtedness, poor credit history, age, health, disability or any other reason;
Thats what I am going to try and argue on along with many others I have discovered!!0
