Telling them you work 30 hours instead of 32 would have no impact on your claim. Giving the wrong income figure would however but it depends on the specifics.

What year is the overpayment for?
What was your income for that tax year?
What was your income for the tax year before?

It is very rare for penalties to be charged in tax credits. Penalties may be charged if a compliance check was carried out and you were found to have deliberately or negligently gave wrong information.

    Hi!
    Thanks!

Here the answer for your questions:

What year is the overpayment for?
The calculation for them to give me the Working Tax Credit was for the 2016-2017 tax year.
They started to give me the payments in June 2017, what means I have been overpaid a certain amount of money during just three months until now.

What was your income for that tax year?
My income was below £11,000 (£10,400 aprox)

What was your income for the tax year before?
    Below £10,600 (£5,000 aprox)

So your income increased by over £5,000. Did you tell them you expected your income to increase?

Can you confirm what is the first year you claimed working tax credit?

What figure of income did you give them in May 17 when you claimed?

Nop, but I wonder why I have to tell them about that increase if I have never received WTC until June 2017. I mean, I never asked for a benefit before, never. And the only income they asked me for was the income for 2016-2017 (They didn't ask for 2015-2016).

When did you apply for tax credits?

What is the period covered by the 2016/17 awards notice?

I never claimed benefits before 2017, never.

And the only figure of income I gave them was for 2016-2017 tax year: £10, 300.

I did apply on May 2017.

The period covered is: May 2017 until April 2018 according to my second (amended) award notice.
(The first award notice said: June 2017 until April 2018)

So it isn't an award for 2016/17 then.
