How much rent do you pay for a flat?

I currently live in London 10 minutes away from kings cross and my rent was £274 per week for a studio flat. Privately rented - normal sized bedroom, own little kitchen and tiny shower room. I've been here since May last year. I noticed the rent had secretly gone down these past few months. Id say since may or June really. Bit by bit mown down to 230 odd per week.
I always thought 274 per week to Ben pretty disgusting even for London and especially for what the flat actually is.
I really want to move out of a studio flat and it would be nice to get some prospective of how much the typical rent for a studio flat and one bedroom accommodation is. Regardless of location.
I look at online adverts and find more any of them misleading or just point blank false so I am very unsure as to the truth of the topic.

I've always found Rightmove to be reliable0

Yep check out Rightmove, stick to the bigger bricks and mortar agents if you think listings on online agents may be false. just put in within 1/2 mile of Kings Crss statio and include already let properties.0

Rents in London are going to be very high, so what you're paying is probably right.0

10 minutes from kings cross and only £230 a week? Bargain.0

We're paying £331 per week for a one bed flat in Whitechapel (private landlady no agents).0

I'm definitely very grateful for that, cost seems about to right. It's less about the location though and more about the flat itself. Had to deal with a lot of crap here and horrible letting agency. They can have their £230 nothing more.0

having said that none of the cheaper places than your current price within 3 miles of "KC" look fit to house a pig let alone a human. but then it is London and studios are what they are - places you live in for as shot a time as possible or use only as a pied a terre0 -
Different areas will attract different prices. As an example you can get a one bedroom flat in Bromley South(within 15mins walk to station ) for 900 - 1000 PCM or 1050-1200 for a 2 bed. Based on colleagues living locally and from what I can see, prices don't appear to have moved much since I lasted rented 2 years ago.
Also bear in mind that you can negotiate the advertised price. I paid 1050 on a 2-bed a flat advertised as 1100 2yrs ago.
At the time my budget was 1150 max but I viewed a 2-bed property marketed at 1250 (dropped from 1300 after spending some time on the market). It was a very nice and large place in a lovely building. Negotiated the price down to 1150 but changed my mind later in day after I discovered it was band E for council tax. My point is don’t always be put off by the advertised price but obviously this depends on the local market.
All you need to do is identify properties in the area you'd like to view and call EA to arrange a viewing to see what it is really like. You’ll then have to negotiate an offer to get idea of how cost effective a move will be.Working towards:

I am confused at what you mean by the rent secretly going down.0
