Hello

I have removed 3 X spot lights and would like to fit 3 X pendant lights in their place, could I use the wires that the spot light was using?

Yes and or No. It depends entirely on what was powering the spots. Are you able to provide a wiring diagram/pictures/further information?

The main question is whether there is a transformer that is stepping down the voltage before it reached the spotlights.

• If there wasn't a transformer - no problem, go ahead and fit the pendants using the same wires.
• If the transformer was adjacent to the spotlight, and you took it out with the spotlight - no problem, go ahead and fit the pendants using the same wires.
• If there is a transformer and you haven't yet removed it - you need to remove it before fitting the pendants.

If you're not sure, look at the spotlight you've taken out. Does it say e.g. 5V on it or 230~240V? If it's 230~240V, that's mains voltage, no transformer was needed. If it says 5V, it would have had a transformer somewhere.
