Howdy!
Been living in my new flat since june . Hooray !
However, I have a question regarding tbe above . Tonight is the second time in two weeks that i had to reset it . This is done by pushing a tiny slim nail, into a whole . Successful on both accounts thankfully . Question : is this standard practice having to reset it every couple of weeks ? When i was in the middle of purchasing the flat, i decided to get a safety check from a reputable gas person in the area. His company is good , nice bloke , 100% positive feedback etc .
He said that there's nothing to worry about . Its about 7-8 years old .
The surveyor said it is a good one, but i think he was getting confused.
He said i had a valiant , and that they are great boilers.
So , is there nothing to worry about, or is it a crap boilerthat should be replaced ? There is no airing cupboard etc so it should be hot as soon as i turn hot tap on i assume .
I will tell you where the boiler is located when i get a respose from this question
Thanks

What was the fault code that came up when you reset it?0
-
Hi alex . I think it was f 20 .
Not sure if there are different fault numbers, somi could be wrong .
The room it is in has lots of clutter from my move
It was f 9 . I remember now0 -
Press and hold the MODE and - button for 5 seconds and it will show the fault history. Press + to scroll through and MODE to exit.
F9 is low water pressure. What is the pressure set at?0 -
Thanks for that alex . Really helpful .

I will answer this question in the morning, when ive taken your advice.
In the meantime, i may as well let you all know the score :
The boiler is located under the window , inside small boxroom .
Yes , really . Its a 2 bedroom flat ( 1 and a half now)
My surveyor told me not to go for the flat, because of where the boiler is situated. I did my homework as best i could . I got the middle survey. I also got gas engineer to check it . He passed it .
The idea i have, is that i intend to have a yearly service from the same guy and all in theory should be well. I love the flat and that was the only problem .
I will give the results of my findings tomorrow. Im surprised that you can get a list of the fault names by pishing the mode button though.
That is a good thing to have .
Fingers crossed

If it f9 and the pressure is ok then the pressure switch will probably need cleaning or changing, it has 2 purposes, it checks the pressure but also looks for a pressure rise when the pump starts if it doesn't it will likely goto f9.
The boiler flue is what it is. I wouldn't get too hung up by it if it's been passed by gas safe guy, just keep the window shut and get a co alarm.
The flue is ok under a window as long as it is 300mm away, the other option if it's within 300 but 100mm away is to have a plume kit fitted to take the POC's away from your window. If it's within 100mm of your window then there is nothing you can do other then move the boiler or flue.0 -
Thanks again alex.
It all sounds ok , if it is that . I'll report back . Yes, all options have been discussed. I have detector in the bedroom so no issues there.
Before i got this place, that room had two toddlers in bunk beds .
As its only me living there, im making it the wardrobe/ computer room ( when i tidy it up
)

By the way, Vaillant & Glow Worm are the same company which may explain your surveyor's confusion.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

The boiler is room sealed, so there is no issue with using it as a bedroom. The only danger is from fumes blowing in from the flue if it is too near the window-which your RGI should have checked. No free lunch, and no free laptop
