Once again my broadband is broken completely - Openreach coming this afternoon again. Last week the engineer fixed the broken phone line (underground box three miles away) and it seems that it takes a different engineer to fix the BB!
Anyway, I digress. I've found that I can connect my laptop via the BTWifi with FON, however this network doesn't show up on my iphone or ipad, nor does it show on the BT Wifi app - and it needs a data connection to work!
Is there a way of making it show on the tablet and phone?
Thanks

If it is a fairly weak signal chances are the laptop wifi card has better antennas attached so can pick it up when the tablet and phone can't.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If your tablet (or phone) is android then download WiFi Analyser. This can give you a pictorial view of WiFi signals in your area and you should see the Fon signal and it will tell you the signal level.
If it is very low (as suggested in the previous post) then it might be possible to find an area in your house that the reception gives you a higher signal level such as moving closer to the wifi source or even just moving a few centimetres sometimes. Easy to do so worth a try.0 -
Thanks - as I said in my first post I'm using an iphone and the BT wifi app.
I think the FON signal must be my neighbour (100 yards away) as my broadband is off (solid orange light and flashing red b icon).

DOH!!!
Apologies, must remember to read the question in full!
You don't say what OS your laptop is running but if windows then there is a version available see https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/store/p/wifi-analyzer/9nblggh33n0n
but then possible you are an all Apple person! As far as I know Apple removed all such analysers from their store a few years ago but I understand their are 'non approved' apps out there somewhere but I would not suggest going down that route.
Probably best to just chase up getting your BB connection back!0 -
Laptop is Windows, it's the iphone and ipad that can't see the signal.
Well, Openreach failed to attend yesterday so I spent 45 minutes on the phone to BT. Seems that the appointment was made but not 'properly'. The agent, lovely chap called Duncan, did more tests which determined that the fault was outside the house *yeh, no sh*t Sherlock* and that no appointment is necessary. So, I'm promised it'll be fixed by end of business Wednesday. Came away with £30.00 compensation - two times £10.00 for missing the two day service repair guarantee and £10.00 for the missed appointment.
Would rather have my service back!
Thanks folks. I'll soldier on with FON on the lappy.0
