Toilet cistern flush

My toilet seems to have a slight dripping of water down into the pan. The toilet tank when flushed refills ok but drips gradually after. I don't hear the tank refill ever but if there is a drip wouldn't the tank be making a noise to refill like it does when flushed ?

Probably an internal overflow within the cistern, the ballcock inside the cistern might have a quiet fill tube on it which is why you don't hear it till. There is either dirt inside the ballcock or a worn washer which is causing the slight drip, the only other cause could be that the fill height needs adjusting down slightly.
