Is there something wrong with our new combi gas boiler and plumbing?

So a 30i will give you 12.3l per minute and a 35deg rise and 10.8l per minute with a 40deg rise. Try measuring how much hot water your tap flows in a minute. I'd guess it flows far more then the boiler can handle, you may need to slow the flow as described earlier.0

3 problems
You fell for the hype & went for a WB they really aren't the best thing since sliced bread whatever which tells you.
You had it put in the loft which is probably the furthest away from your kitchen sink so the dead leg is long so you will waste loads of water before it gets hot.
The loft isn't the best place for any boiler as you can't see what's happening or adjust it without getting in the roof especially for a WB that doesn't have a low water pressure switch so it will continue to work even with no water in it, the loft gets cold in the winter so the inbuilt frost stat will be switching the boiler on all night.
As Alex said slow the fllow rate down however that will mean you waiting even longer for hot water.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thanks for all the help. I couldn't work how much hot water I was getting in a minute but by reducing the flow I can get the hot water to stay constant. Bit of a shame though as I think having a hot bath might be harder than we thought.0

Does your system have a pre heat option? We just had exactly the same system installed and our installer said the pre heat option reduces the delay in the water reaching the tap hot. There is a symbol on the controller.0

Hi Southcoastrgri Yeah we really did fall for the hype and I wish we'd done more research nobody to blame but ourselves.
I know the loft isn't ideal but the plumber convinced us by arguing that it'd be safer to have the gas go up the side of the house than run through the attic and then down into the bathroom or under the floors downstairs. The attic is well insulated and it never gets too cold here so perhaps it'll be okay? Again something we wish we researched more.
It's a pain how much I had to slow the flow down to maintain constant hot water.0 -
Happy do you mean turn off the eco? I think that's what the instructions said.0

You'll probably have to learn what speed to set the tap to get good temperature, the slow it is the hotter it will be.
Don't be to down the boiler is decent in my opinion and Worcester after care if required is market leading, everyone has a different opinion, I honestly think the Worcester is the most common boiler I see.
South coast is right about loft installations, I'd never recommend it anc never fitted one up there but work on plenty that are up there. I'd recommend having a pressure gauge and filling loop installed downstairs somewhere.0 -
Wonder why the plumber was so keen to put it in the loft

I do agree with Alex that WB after sales service is very good & that they prob have more boilers fitted than any other manufacturer & you could speak to 10 different installers & get 10 different choices.
His idea of a pressure gauge & filling loop is also a excellent suggestion.
One thing I would say is that there are 3 things that most manu's insist on before they will repair your boiler
A loft ladder (not a set of steps you get out of the garage)
A wired in loft light (not a lead light or one off of your bed side cabinet)
It's boarded from the loft hatch to the boiler
If any of these are missing it would be a good idea to get them done before you need any work done to your boiler.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
