No longer know what to do. Since I started reading these boards yesterday I am so confused. Howdens according to my Joiner sell a good product. Magnet have mixed things up so much but their revised estimate is now lower then Howdens by a long way. Magnet say their doors won't fit my doors.
BUT Magnet have quoted for a full kitchen which is still £1500 less than the Howden price just to replace the doors
I am never happy not knowing what the price of anything. Magnet says 70% off showing one price and a 2nd with the discount.
They have messed the estimate up and now I have arranged to go in to the Showroom tomorrow (Trade) I have got the Joiner coming to measure again as Magnet say their doors won't fit. Howden are using the same door size and say they will fit.
Looked at a video on a Kitchen Door replacement and they tell you how to measure. 6000 will be 4mm less on the actual door size so I think Magnet doors would fit.
Not sure whether to bother going in to their Showroom as I feel they may not have been as open and they should have been.
I must say neither Company come out well in the reviews I have read on line
Advice would be appreciated

The problems with just changing doors are as follows:
Height: Just because the doors are the same width, it doesn't mean they are the same height. 720mm is one of the most common caracase heights and to suit this you need a 715mm door. Anything taller or shorter and the hinge holes wont line up and this can cause problems when fitting them
Carcase thickness: A door with hinge holes drilled for an 18mm carcase can cause problems when being fitted to a 12mm or 15mm carcase, depending on the type of hinges being used. The problem is often more profound on drawers, as the fixing holes are slightly out of position which makes it more difficult to fit.If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Thank you so much. My Joiner is coming in the morning and as I have a lot of confidence in him I am sure that he will see where problems may lie.
I am grateful that I found this forum as it means I am in a better position to understand the problem and to ask the relevant questions.
Again many thanss

We purchased a kitchen from HomeBase March 2011 by January 2012 the work tops were showing signs of cracking and and a number of cupboards were coming apart.
A rep. From HomeBase came to inspect in January 2012 admitted that the work tops needed replacing and that the cupboards had not been fitted correctly .the plumbing and electrical work had not been completed to the correct safety standards.
Although we have emailed the CEO of HomeBase Terry Duddy and spoken to his office .we have received a number of promises .however it is now September 2012 and no one from HomeBase has bothered to make any effort whatsoever to rectify these problems.
Considering we spent at least £20,000 with HomeBase .
My best advice is buy elsewhere0 -
On the other side we have had a Homebase Kitchen since 1999 it's been fine the main used cupboard door is now on it's way out and the worktop behind the sink has had some water ingress (our fault for not resealing when needed) but it was the cheapest in the range at the time and has served us well, I had a fab fitter tho, i would say that as it was my Dad0

the difference here being your kitchen was bought in 1999 - and things change, not least driven by proffit margins.
personaly Id take an annacdote from 2011 over one from 1999 for that reason alone.0
