Accident as a named driver, who's policy does it affect?

Hi, I'll try and keep it short. 2 weeks I had a minor accident in my wife's car. I am only a named driver on her car. The claim has been reported and my wife as the policy holder will lose 5 years of her 9 years no claims as it wasn't protected. My question is, my insurance is now due for renewal on my own car, does this accident affect my no claims (only currently got 2 years) and do I have to declare this accident for my renewal??

You have to declare this accident as you were the driver. However it isn't a claim on your policy.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. perhaps time to protect the no claims as that extra you pay for it far exceeds the benefit when you have a at fault accident."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Won't affect your own NCB as it wasn't on your policy, but you still need to declare it.
Like others said, may be a good idea to get that NCB protected!0
